About Us...

MGP Sarvodaya Kendra was established in 1960 at Amirgadh, a village in the Tribal area of Banaskantha, North Gujarat with the expressed objective of local development in the fields of skill development, education, women' emancipation, agricultural development and cattle protection and development. A part of the newly Independent India, this trust was to impart what was then famous as 'Nai Taalim' - New Education for the New World.

The community warmly embraced the activities of the trust, calling the precincts - An Ashram - a place of refuge, education and peace, In 1976, the trust increased the scope of its activities to include 'Gau Seva' (Caring for cows), working towards the preservation and development of indigenous cow species such as the Kankrej. Further, we engage with the residents  of the area to create awareness abut sustainable livelihood possibilities and providing skill development for economic growth.

At various points of our 60 year old history, we have been closely involved in the following activities

  • Natural Resource Management and Watershed Development

  • Livelihood and Women's Empowerment

  • Low Cost housing and Sanitation

  • Draught and Earthquake Relief

  • Education
